Hola from Buenos Aires!

So I have finally arrived in Buenos Aires... After leaving Sydney, spending 16 hours flying to Santiago via Auckland, than waiting 6 hours in Santiago, then flying another 2 hours to Buenos Aires, then taking another few hours to get to the hotel. It was so nice to lie down on a bed after sitting up trying to sleep. I cannot sleep on planes and these flights were no exception!

My trip in itself wasn´t too bad. After many tears goodbye to my parents and my boyfriend Scott I made my way though customs - the guy barely looked at my green slip. The flight to Auckland was fine, and I was able to watch most of a movie. The second part of the flight from Auckland to Santiago was fine, except for the baby in the row behind me who was crying for a little bit, although with my lack of ability to sleep on planes it wasn´t really an issue for me. Then I had an English backpacker two seats over from me who decided she would use the vacant seat next to me to stetch out. I don´t think I would have minded as much, but maybe just ask if it´s ok to use it? Then I also had the feet that ended up on my arm rest as well- not too happy about that part! After arriving in Santiago I had six hours to find something to do, so I had planned to find somewhere with internet to updates this and waste some time on facebook. There were no computers in the terminal anywhere!! So I spent the time exploring the terminal, which was partially under construction, eating, and litsening to my ipod. I started to read but that made me feel sleepy! The actually surroundings of the airport were quite magnificent though - huge mountains all around. Quite impressive. I am using my very bad spanish to try and communicate. I have my numbers downpact so that is helpful at least, I was able to hear hen I had to board the plane as they didn´t announce the rows in English. It felt like I was the only person on the plane who spoke English, very intimidating!

I´m now in Buenos Aires for a week, and first thing tomorrow I´m off to the Brazillian consulate to get my Brazillian visa so I can go on my second tour, which will now be my first. Today´s plans are to get my bearings around here, and find out what else I´ll do in the following week. Though I need to go back to my room and change, because althouhg it looked nice and sunny outside, there is this freezing breeze in the air! So no more shorts and thongs for me today! Anyway I should make use of today and go explore- more to come in the next week I am sure!
